The Department of Informatics, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Hasanuddin (Unhas) proudly took part in the Australia Awards Indonesia Short Course: “Enhancing Artificial Intelligence (AI) Development and Innovation – Policy and Practice,” which was held from 8 to 24 August 2025 in Brisbane and Canberra, Australia. The university was represented by Ir. Anugrayani Bustamin, ST., MT., who joined a select group of 25 leaders from across Indonesia consisting of professionals from government institutions, universities, and the private sector.

Throughout the two-week program delivered by Griffith University, participants engaged in intensive learning focused on strengthening the role of government in driving innovation while ensuring the safe, inclusive, and ethical adoption of AI. The program also emphasized practical exposure through institutional visits, strategic dialogues with policymakers, and the exploration of national digital transformation frameworks in Australia.

Throughout the two-week program delivered by Griffith University, participants engaged with key stakeholders and visited leading AI and digital innovation institutions, including:

The course emphasized policy-driven innovation, strengthening bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and Australia, and ensuring ethical, responsible, and transformative AI adoption.

This achievement reflects Unhas’ growing contribution to the advancement of inclusive digital transformation, particularly in expanding AI readiness and innovation capacity in Eastern Indonesia. The networks and knowledge established through this program are expected to spark future collaborative research, technology policy initiatives, and regional AI development programs involving Unhas and Australia.
