The Department of Naval Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Hasanuddin (Unhas) has established a new collaboration with the Korea Maritime & Ocean University (KMOU), South Korea, through a research partnership visit held on 14 August 2025.

Representing Unhas, Dr. Rahimuddin, ST., MT., Ph.D., engaged in discussions with Prof. Park Young Soo and KMOU’s research team to explore opportunities for joint studies focusing on maritime safety, ship design, and sustainable marine technology. The visit aimed to strengthen academic and research ties between both institutions, emphasizing shared goals in improving safety standards and advancing maritime innovation.

This collaboration serves as a vital step toward enhancing Unhas’ research capacity in the field of naval architecture, particularly in areas related to risk assessment, navigation systems, and ship operation efficiency. Both parties expressed enthusiasm for future cooperation, including potential faculty exchanges, co-authored publications, and collaborative student research programs.

Through this partnership, the Department of Naval Architecture at Unhas reaffirms its dedication to contributing to global maritime safety and sustainability, positioning itself as a key academic player in advancing Southeast Asia’s marine engineering landscape.
