The Faculty of Engineering at Hasanuddin University once again organized The International Student Conference on Advanced Science and Technology (ICAST) 2023, which opened on Monday, September 18, 2023, at the CSA Building LT1, 2nd Floor, Faculty of Engineering, Hasanuddin University.

Opened directly by the Rector of Hasanuddin University, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc, followed with a welcoming speech by President of Kumamoto University, Prof. Ogawa Hisao, and the Dean of the Graduate School of Science and Technology at Kumamoto University, Fujimoto Hitoshi. The event was also attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Hasanuddin University, Prof. Dr. Eng. Muhammad Isran Ramli, S.T., M.T., IPM., ASEAN Eng., the Vice Dean for Research and Innovation Partnerships, Dr. Ir. Rustan Tarakka, ST., M.T., IPM., AER., the Head of the Electrical Engineering Department, Dr. Eng. Ir. Dewiani, M.T., and the Manager of PLN ULP Sungguminasa, Ir. Iin Trisnawati, S.T., M.T. Present online was Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. Syafaruddin, ST., M.Eng., IPU.

This time, ICAST will take place over three days until September 20th 2023, with participants coming from three countries: Indonesia, Japan, and India. Meanwhile, the speakers are from four countries: Indonesia, Japan, India, and China. The total number of articles presented at this conference is 42.

In collaboration with Kumamoto University, ICAST features two keynote speakers from Japan, namely Vice President for Global Education at Kumamoto University, Prof. Mitsuyo Kishida, and Assoc. Prof. Hajime Miyauchi.

In his speech, the Rector of Hasanuddin University, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc, stated that ICAST is not just an event, but also a medium for collaboration to strengthen science and technology. Prof. JJ also expressed his hope that this momentum would be beneficial for the participants in terms of both their careers and future relationships.

After the opening remarks and ceremony, the event continued with presentations from the speakers and paper presentations from the participants. The event also included an excursion to introduce the area of Makassar and its surroundings to international participants.
