Gowa, September 12, 2026 – The Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Hasanuddin University, successfully organized The 3rd International Conference on Energy, Manufacture, Advanced Materials, and Mechatronics (IC-EMAMM 2026) in conjunction with the 18th National Seminar on Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (SENAMM XVIII 2026).

The event was held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the CSA Building, Faculty of Engineering, Hasanuddin University. The 3rd IC-EMAMM 2026 carried the theme “Driving Impactful and Sustainable Innovations through Engineering and Technology for Global Development”. Meanwhile, SENAMM XVIII 2026 adopted the theme “Enhancing Technological Capability in Materials Science and Metallurgy through Indigenous Resource Utilization and Innovation”.

The event reflected the university’s commitment to strengthening collaboration among academics, researchers, practitioners, industry representatives, and stakeholders in advancing science and technology, particularly in the fields of energy, manufacturing, advanced materials, metallurgy, and mechatronics.

The event commenced with remarks from the leadership of the Faculty of Engineering, Hasanuddin University, represented by the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Partnerships, Prof. Bahtiar Nappu. The event was officially opened by the leadership of Hasanuddin University, represented by the Vice Rector for Planning, Development, and Cooperation, Prof. Suharman Hamzah.

In his remarks, he emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration among universities, industry, government, and various stakeholders to generate innovations that not only contribute to academic advancement but also create tangible impacts on society and support sustainable development.

National and International Collaboration

The 3rd IC-EMAMM 2026 and SENAMM XVIII 2026 were organized through collaboration with various national and international institutions. The event involved the Indonesian Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Education Cooperation Board (BKPMM), Badan Industri Mineral (BIM), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), Politeknik Ilmu Pelayaran Makassar, Universitas Tadulako, and Universitas Halu Oleo.

These partnerships demonstrate a strong spirit of cross-institutional collaboration in advancing research, education, technological innovation, and human resource development in the fields of engineering, materials, metallurgy, energy, and manufacturing.

Beyond serving as a forum for knowledge exchange, the event also provided an opportunity to strengthen collaborative networks among universities, research institutions, industry, and related organizations at both national and international levels.

 

Speakers from Around the World

The conference featured a number of keynote and invited speakers from various countries and leading institutions. The speakers represented institutions from Malaysia, Kuwait, Australia, and the United States, as well as representatives from the industrial sector.

Institutions represented in the scientific sessions included Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, American University of the Middle East, Kuwait, Swinburne University of Technology, Australia, Tarleton State University, USA, and Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA). The conference also featured an industry representative from Huayou Indonesia Regional Center.

The participation of national and international speakers provided attendees with opportunities to gain insights into the latest developments in energy, manufacturing, advanced materials, metallurgy, and mechatronics, as well as technological challenges emerging at the global level.

Strong Enthusiasm through Scientific Presentations

The high level of enthusiasm among participants was also reflected in the number of scientific papers submitted to both events. The 3rd IC-EMAMM 2026 received 59 papers, while SENAMM XVIII 2026 received 25 papers. In total, 84 scientific papers participated in the two academic forums.

These papers formed an important part of the scientific program through presentation and discussion sessions covering research findings, technological developments, and innovations in energy, manufacturing, advanced materials, metallurgy, and mechatronics.

IC-EMAMM 2026 served as an international forum bringing together academics, researchers, students, practitioners, and industry representatives to share research findings, experiences, and innovative ideas. The forum is expected to broaden participants’ perspectives on developments in science and technology at the global level.

Meanwhile, SENAMM XVIII 2026 served as an important platform for academics and researchers to present their research findings and strengthen scientific and technological capabilities in the fields of materials and metallurgy. The seminar particularly encouraged the utilization of local resources and the development of innovations based on national potential.

Strengthening Networks and Collaboration

Through these events, participants were provided not only with opportunities to present their research findings but also with platforms to build professional networks and explore potential research collaborations across institutions and countries.

Interactions among academics, researchers, students, practitioners, and industry representatives are expected to generate new synergies in research and technological development. Such collaboration is increasingly important in addressing global challenges that require multidisciplinary approaches and cooperation among diverse stakeholders.

The organization of The 3rd IC-EMAMM 2026 and SENAMM XVIII 2026 is expected to generate ideas, innovations, and collaborative initiatives that contribute to addressing global challenges through the application of science and technology.

The event also represents part of the ongoing efforts of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Hasanuddin University, together with their partners, to promote innovative and sustainable technological development that delivers tangible benefits to society.

Following the successful implementation of the event, the collaborative networks established through the conferences are expected to continue growing through research partnerships, academic exchanges, technological development, and stronger industry collaboration in the future.
