The Department of Marine Engineering (Naval Architecture), Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Hasanuddin (Unhas) conducted an academic visit to Newcastle University, United Kingdom, from 29 September to 9 October 2025, as part of an initiative to strengthen academic peer collaboration with leading global institutions.

Represented by Dr. Faisal Mahmuddin, the visit involved a series of academic discussions with Prof. Zhiqiang Hu and members of the Newcastle University academic community. These discussions focused on shared research interests in marine engineering, ship systems, and maritime technology, while also exploring potential pathways for joint research projects, academic exchange, and long-term institutional collaboration.

The visit also provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives on curriculum development and research approaches in response to evolving global maritime challenges. This academic engagement reflects Unhas’ commitment to internationalization and excellence in education and research, further positioning the university as an active contributor to the global maritime engineering community and expanding opportunities for future collaborative research and academic mobility.
