Strengthening international academic exposure in metallurgical engineering, the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Hasanuddin (Unhas) welcomed a visiting scholar from Kyushu University, Japan, for a guest lecture on advanced metallurgical practices.

The session, titled “Introduction to Copper Processing,” was delivered by Assoc. Prof. Pandhe Wisnu Suyantara, a researcher at Kyushu University, and facilitated by Dr. Hairul Arsyad, S.T., M.T., Chair of the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Program. The lecture was held on 19 October 2025 at Lecture Theater 1, CSA Building, Faculty of Engineering, and attracted strong interest from the academic community.

Focusing on fundamental principles and recent advancements in copper processing, the lecture offered participants valuable perspectives on extraction, refinement, and processing technologies within modern metallurgical industries. The discussion also highlighted current challenges in copper processing and the role of innovation in improving efficiency and sustainability.

This guest lecture reflects Unhas’ ongoing commitment to fostering international collaboration and enriching academic learning through direct engagement with global experts. Such initiatives are expected to strengthen research capacity, broaden academic perspectives, and open new opportunities for collaboration between Unhas and leading international institutions.
