The Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of the Faculty of Engineering at Universitas Hasanuddin, Prof. Dr. Amil Ahmad Ilham, S.T., M.IT, welcomed the delegation from Hochschule Kaiserslautern: University of Applied Sciences. The delegation included Prof. Michael Magin, Vice Rector for Internationalisation, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thomas Kilb, and Alexandra Ecker, M.A.
This meeting was held to discuss the collaboration between the Faculty of Engineering at Universitas Hasanuddin and Hochschule Kaiserslautern: University of Applied Sciences, Germany, as a follow-up to the visit of the Kaiserslautern delegation to Indonesia. After a series of discussions and evaluations, Hochschule Kaiserslautern selected Unhas as its sole partner from Indonesia. Prof. Michael Magin introduced the collaborative double degree program for both undergraduate and master’s students.
This collaboration is expected to be a strategic step in enhancing the academic and professional competitiveness of Universitas Hasanuddin, while also expanding its international network. The double degree program offers students the opportunity to broaden their knowledge and build a wider global network.
Unhas students participating in the double degree program will complete between 90 to 120 credits at Unhas, then continue for two semesters at the University of Kaiserslautern in Germany, before returning to Unhas to complete their thesis with joint supervision. For master’s students, they will spend one year at Unhas and six months in Germany. The key advantage of the double degree program is that students will earn two diplomas, one from Unhas and the other from the University of Kaiserslautern, which will open career opportunities in Germany and expand their professional prospects in the international job market.
