The Japanese Ambassador to Indonesia, Kenji Kanasugi paid a working visit to the Faculty of Engineering, Hasanuddin University (FTUH) in Gowa. During the visit to the FTUH Campus, the Japanese Ambassador was welcomed directly by the Dean of FTUH, Prof. M Isran Ramli, along with all the ranks of the Dean and Department Heads within FTUH.
Ambassador Kanasugi, who was accompanied by the secretary of Furunobu Koichi, Yahata Hironori, and the Head of the Japanese Consular Office in Makassar, Yasue Katsunobu received an explanation of the development of the condition of the facilities and infrastructure and the FTUH community from the Dean of FTUH. Prof. Isran said that on the FTUH Campus 10 Educational Facility Buildings have been built through the cooperation of the Government of Japan with the Government of Indonesia, and there are 4 other facility buildings built with the help of Central Government funding, Provincial and Unhas Internal Funds. Currently, FTUH has 6500 undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral students spread across 32 Study Programs in 13 Departments in FTUH, said Prof. Isran to Ambassador Kanasugi. Furthermore, Prof. Isran also informed that currently, FTUH is one of the best Engineering Higher Education Institutions in Indonesia. This is indicated by performance achievements in the fields of research, learning and industrial partnership activities by the FTUH academic community which have increased in quality and quantity, both on a national and international scale in the last 5 years. This performance achievement is inseparable from the good support of the Japanese Government through the collaboration of universities in Japan with the FTUH Academic Community, said Prof. Isran. In this audience, the Dean of FTUH also added that the implementation of the RI-Japan Phase-1 cooperation for the construction and development of the FTUH Campus, has been able to bring the FTUH Academic Community to a superior academic atmosphere in carrying out learning creativity, research and innovation. Representing the entire FTUH Academic Community, Prof. Isran expressed his hope to Ambassador Kanasugi that Phase-2 of the RI-Japan Cooperation Project for the Development of the FTUH Campus could be continued to maintain sustainability and improve even better performance on the utilization of laboratory facilities and infrastructure assets at FTUH held in Phase-1.
