In a significant move to bridge global geoscience expertise with local geological inquiry, the Geological Department of Hasanuddin University in Collaboration with MGEI-SC of Universitas Hasanuddin proudly announces an exclusive Guest Lecture & Knowledge Sharing session that promises to illuminate Sulawesi's complex geological narrative. Scheduled for Wednesday, 26 November 2025, beginning at 10.00 WITA in CSA Lt. 1, Faculty of Engineering UNHAS, this event brings together two distinguished post-doctoral fellows from Taiwan's prestigious Institute of Earth Sciences (IES), Academia Sinica, which renowned as one of Asia's leading earth science research hubs. Dr. Sc. Renaldi Suhendra will present groundbreaking research on "Cenozoic Magmatism and Gold Mineralization in Central Western Sulawesi," offering critical insights into the volcanic processes that generated the island's economically vital gold deposits. Complementing this, Dr. Hsia Juiyen will delve into "Metamorphic Study of Multiple Subduction–Collisional Events in Western Sulawesi," unraveling the tectonic collisions that shaped Sulawesi's unique rock formations over millions of years. The session was expertly moderated by Dr. Sc. Muhammad Sulhuzair Burhanuddin and Mr. Bahrul Hidayah, whose scholarly guidance will facilitate dynamic dialogue between speakers and attendees.

Sulawesi, positioned at the convergence of multiple tectonic plates, represents one of the world's most geologically complex regions, a natural laboratory for studying magmatism, mineralization, and metamorphism. This event holds particular relevance for Indonesia's mining sector, as understanding these processes directly informs sustainable exploration strategies and resource management.

For students of geology and earth sciences, the lecture offers an unparalleled opportunity to engage with significant international research while connecting theoretical knowledge to Indonesia's rich geological resources. Beyond academic enrichment, the collaboration underscores Geological Department and MGEI-SC UNHAS's commitment to fostering global scientific exchange and positioning Indonesian students at the forefront of earth science discourse. The event warmly welcomes not only UNHAS students and faculty but also professionals from the mining industry, government geological agencies, and geoscience enthusiasts eager to deepen their understanding of Sulawesi's hidden treasures.
