Gowa, March 12, 2026 – The Faculty of Engineering, Hasanuddin University, welcomed a delegation from Hirogin World Business Co., Ltd and Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. Japan, at the Faculty of Engineering Dean’s Room. The meeting aimed to discuss opportunities for strategic collaboration in applied research, student competency development, as well as international industrial internship programs.
The Japanese delegation was led by Kondo Kenji, Director of Hirogin World Business Co., Ltd, and attended by representatives from Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd, namely Fukuyuki Ohshima and Junro Nakayama.
On behalf of Hasanuddin University, the meeting was attended by Prof. drg. Muhammad Ruslin, M.Kes., Ph.D., Sp.BM(K), Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs at Hasanuddin University, accompanied by the Unhas Director of Education and staff. They were welcomed by Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. Muhammad Isran Ramli, S.T., M.T., IPM., AER, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Unhas, along with the Vice Deans of the Faculty of Engineering.
During the discussion, both parties explored collaboration opportunities in industrial internship programs in Japan aimed at students of the Faculty of Engineering at Unhas. The program is expected to provide international work experience while also enhancing students’ technical and professional competencies in the fields of engineering and modern manufacturing.
One key point discussed was the scheme of the international internship program, which offers compensation of around 198,000 Yen per month for participating students. The targeted study programs for this collaboration include: Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Environmental Engineering.
In addition to the internship program, the meeting also identified various potential research collaborations between the Faculty of Engineering at Unhas and the Japanese manufacturing industry. This partnership is expected to encourage technological development as well as the capacity building of human resources in the engineering field.
Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Unhas, Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. Muhammad Isran Ramli, warmly welcomed this partnership opportunity. He emphasized that partnerships with global industries such as Daihatsu Motor are a strategic step in strengthening the link and match between higher education and industry needs.
Meanwhile, Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs at Unhas, Prof. Muhammad Ruslin, conveyed that international internship programs like this are an integral part of higher education internationalization efforts and reinforce the competencies of Hasanuddin University graduates to compete at the global level.
Through this meeting, it is hoped that cooperation between the Faculty of Engineering at Unhas and Hirogin World Business and Daihatsu Motor Japan can soon be realized in concrete programs, whether in industrial internships, collaborative research, or student capacity development in the field of engineering and manufacturing.
