Batam, February 7, 2026 – The Faculty of Engineering at Hasanuddin University (FT Unhas) conducted a collaborative visit to several shipbuilding, manufacturing, and automation companies in Batam, Riau Islands. This initiative is a strategic step to strengthen synergy between higher education institutions and the industrial sector in order to enhance the relevance of graduates to the demands of the workforce.
The visit was made to PT PaxOcean. This activity is part of the implementation of the strengthening of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly in the aspects of education, research, and community service
The delegation was led by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Unhas, Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. Muhammad Isran Ramli, S.T., M.T., IPM., ASEAN.Eng., accompanied by vice deans, university leaders, and representatives from the Center of Technology (CoT), with a total of 13 participants.
PT PaxOcean is a company engaged in shipyard operations, ship repair, and new ship building. During the visit, the company's management presented the company's profile, business scope, as well as the implementation of operational and safety standards.
From the meeting, several collaboration opportunities were identified, such as internship programs, industrial work placements for students, alumni recruitment, joint applied research in ship technology, and competency development through guest lectures and joint training sessions.
Through this visit, the Faculty of Engineering at Unhas affirmed its commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships with the industrial sector as part of its efforts to prepare graduates who are excellent, adaptable, and competitive. It is hoped that the resulting collaborations will foster the creation of an educational ecosystem that aligns with technological developments and national industrial needs.
